Testimonials
Over the last few years Cape Cod Sailing School has hosted many classes. So many students who complete their course have great things to say about the school, their instructors and the experience they had. Here are a few examples of the comments we have had.
Mark,
This is a short note to thank you for the invaluable time and lesson in sailing you provided my son Christopher in April. He still speaks of you and all the enjoyment he had that day. I have a friend I work with who is also interested in having both he and his son learn sailing from you. There is no better person. I will provide him your name but you’ll need to let me know when you are available during you’re hectic summer. I will also plan to go sailing with you and junior in late Sept if that will work for you. Again Mark……thanks for everything….Tom
Hi Mark,
I truly enjoyed the course. You did a great job…low stress but plenty of learning. Thanks for the pictures. Let me know if it’s better for you on the weekends or early evening to get back on the boat again and I’ll give you some dates. At some point I’d also like to set up some private lessons to get my skill level to the point where I can comfortably sail solo.
I’m definitely planning on taking the basic cruising course and if you have plans on offering that sometime later in the summer let me know as I’d prefer to take it with you instead of traveling to Boston or Newport if it’s an option.
Thanks again, Nick
Hello Mark,
Thank you for an excellent course. I enjoyed three beautiful days of sailing in Buzzards Bay and you put all the pieces neatly together! I realized something quite interesting after taking the US Sailing Test at the end: you had provided TOTAL FOCUS while making it seem like total fun and relaxation. That means you are a great teacher!
Please do come see us in Edgartown. Also, do not hesitate to call me anytime!
Thank you!
Erika
DEAR MARK,
I WANT TO THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH FOR INVITING ME TO JOIN WINDPATH SAILING PRGRAM.
THIS SO A GREAT LEARNING EXPERIENCE THAT BROUGHT ME TO ANOTHER LEVEL AND APPRECIATION FOR THE ART OF SAILING. I HAVE GAINED SO MUCH CONFIDIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE THROUGHT YOUR SAILING PROGRAM.
SANITY WILL FINALLY HAVE HER SAILS UP. YOU ARE A WONDERFUL AND PATIANT INSTRUTOR. I HAVE ALREADY SPOKE TO SEVERAL PEOPLE WHO ARE INTERESTED IN YOUR SAILING PROGRAM. AND HAVE GIVEN YOUR NAME AND EMAIL. SO I HOPE THEY CONTACT YOU.
MANY THANKS AGAIN. IF THERE IS ANYTHING THAT I CAN DO FOR YOU PLEASE DON’T HESITATE TO ASK.
YOUR FRIEND AND FORMER STUDENT
TRACY
Hey there Mark –
I really enjoyed the Basic Keelboat Sailing course you taught recently. You are a thorough and eminently patient teacher both in the classroom and on the water. Your calm style allowed me to take my time getting the hang of the tiller and getting a better grasp on how to read the sails, for instance. I think you did very well at fitting in all the necessary technical information without the time feeling at all hectic.
I know I am more confident on my boat having taken this course and I am so pleased! Last week Jan and I went out with John and Justin on Jalapeno and had a very nice time. I was told I did well when it was my turn at the helm. This is directly connected to having attended your basic keelboat course.
I received my “suitable for framing” Wind Path Sailing School certificate and will keep it in a safe place. Please keep me informed about the keelboat sailing course going forward, as it is quite possible that I will take it again for US Sailing certification.
Cheers –
Nina
Dear Mark:
As promised, I am pleased to provide feedback on the Basic Keelboat Training session provided this past weekend.
I found the training instruction to be comprehensive, presented in understandable language and demonstrated in a meaningful and valuable way.
The classroom presentation was extremely clear and your diagrams and descriptions were very helpful. The flow of the class seemed perfect. You answered questions without getting off track; you kept the pace moving to keep everyone’s interests throughout the three days. You followed up and went back to some more complicated issues so that you were sure each individual was comfortable with the material.
Your explanations of wind / sail dynamics was excellent. Your reasoning for being diligent about knowing and using correct terminology was very valuable to me. Your descriptions both in class and on the water regarding points of sail was comprehensive and somehow you seemed to simplify what I thought was more complex.
Our experience at the dock and on the water was fabulous. I appreciated your expert knowledge surrounding handling lines; leaving and arriving at the dock/mooring; hoisting sails; dropping anchor; jib and mainsail trim and its relationship to no-go zone was so specific and so clear; your patience in teaching specific knots was crucial to me. I had attempted to learn the bowline at least 4 different times in my past. I now feel like I know that knot. The fact that each student was able to experience each major activity at least twice was a valuable learning experience. You made it seem like we had the perfect student/instructor ratio, a pleasant classroom environment, the perfect wind conditions, and the perfect boats to be practicing on.
Thank you again.
Sincerely,
Anne
Mark – Thanks so much for the experience – we loved it and are now boat hunting! I think our next class will be the 5 hour one you offer to familiarize us with the navigation equipment, etc.
You have a lovely facility for providing this kind of training and we enjoyed every minute.
Thanks, Karen
